Bloons TD 5 apk

Bloons TD 5 maintains the series' reputation for fun tower defense, but isn't without it's flaws.

At this point, you could be forgiven for thinking that the tower defense genre ran its course years ago. The glory days of Fieldrunners and its ilk waned as promising new contenders entered the casual arena, and almost every new entry seems but a variation on the same tired theme. That's why it's so surprising to see Bloons TD 5rocket so far up to the top tiers of the App Store. Much like its predecessor, it doesn't bring much innovation to the genre, but it makes up for this considerable shortcoming through sheer variety and a fun aesthetic.

The premise is simple. Rather than halting running enemies along preset paths with armed towers, you fire at balloons using monkeys with widely different abilities. In the earliest minutes you'll throw simple darts, but by the time 15 minutes or half an hour fly by (and they will), you'll litter your map with monkeys who can bomb balloons from airplanes or "super monkeys" who can pop them faster than a speeding bullet. The balloons themselves benefit from similar variety: you begin with one pop balloons and graduate to balloons encased in metal shells or others that remain camouflaged unless ninja monkeys reveal them.

Bloon's love of diversity doesn't end with the units themselves. Once you've placed them, you can unlock further upgrades by using a specific monkey more frequently, such as an upgrade that morphs your cannons into missile launchers that spread carnage over a wide radius. Non-combat monkeys add further spice to such an appetizing serving, such a monkeys who operate farms beyond the battlefields and supply extra money for upgrades and new units.

 

 

Such a robust system would run the risk of tedium if you had to unlock these dozens of units with each playthrough, so it comes as welcome news that Bloons lets you access unlocked units once you start a new game. (Provided, of course, you have the gold to place them on the map.) Not only does such an approach allow greater freedom is setting up your levels, but it also allows you to tackle the harder modes with confidence.

That's important, because Bloons TD 5 seems considerably more difficult than Bloons TD 4. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but the enemies come harder and faster, and the powerful balloon units seem better prepared to cut through your defenses unless you bring additional help. That help, of course, comes mostly though premium currency, which you can then spend on facilities that upgrades or weapons on agents that simplify some processes (such as a monkey who harvests bananas from your farm so you don't have to click on them).

The result, unfortunately, is a game that seems like it's trying to wheedle even more cash out of you despite its base price tag. It's still fun, and one of the better examples of tower defense on the market, but it's hard to escape the impression that Bloons TD 4 wasn’t so piratical in its drive to urge you to spend premium currency. What's more, Bloons TD 5 suffers from the same lag that plagued Bloons TD 4 once you reach the highest level and find your screen crammed with monkeys and popping balloons. And as an added concern, it’s subject to glitches and crashes unless you log out of GameCenter.

Perhaps these issues will improve in time. As it is, you'll still find much to love in the early levels of Ninja Kiwi's new entry in their beloved tower defense franchise, but be warned – this bubble pops a little too soon after it gets off the ground.

In either scenario, SoundHound should be able to do its job so long as the volume of the source isn't too low or too loud and distorted. Typically, the app needs between 3 and 10 seconds of "listening" in order to bring back any search results.

n my tests, I found that SoundHound was impressive in its ability to identify both popular music and slightly more obscure tracks. In this respect, I would say it is more or less on par with competitors such as Shazam. Of course, when it comes to any extremely niche songs, though, either app would almost certainly have some trouble doing its job. One thing that does set SoundHound apart from its competitor is its ability to identify songs that you sing or hum, which is perfect for those times when you get an unidentifiable song stuck in your head.

The beauty of SoundHound is that once it identifies the song in question, it returns so much more than just a song title, artist name, and album. The results page -- while it may not be clean or attractive as I would like -- shows off an impressive amount of information, including similar artists, a list of albums on which the song has appeared, and even a link to tour dates for the artist. There are also options to play the song on Rdio or Spotify, search for it on YouTube, or purchase it through Amazon MP3. And the app keeps a running list of songs you have ID'd, in case you want to go back and access their details.

Perhaps the neatest thing about the song info page is the LiveLyrics. When lyrics are available, SoundHound will return them and actually keep them scrolling in real time, along with the music. Considering the music source is a radio or some other speaker that isn't connected to your phone, this synchronization seems almost magical.

More than just a namer of tunes, SoundHound is also good at helping users discover new music. For instance, from the Home screen, you can find the What's Hot button, which takes you to a valuable listing of trending music on SoundHound. This page shows you hottest songs of the week, most tweeted and most ID'd songs, and newly ID'd songs. It's nice to sift through this page to see what other users are listening to. And of course, any track you access can be shared with friends via Twitter, Facebook, Gmail, and other installed applications on your device.

One thing to note is that SoundHound does come bundled with an "ID Now" Home screen widget. I would highly suggest using this, as it automatically opens up the app and starts identifying ambient music in a single tap.

Lag reduction for ROOT USERS ONLY! Many Android tasks run slower than they should for one simple, yet not-so-obvious reason: they consume large amounts of random data from a limited source. 

Random data is used to generate session keys and unique identifiers, in SSL and wifi, while starting processes, and during inter-process communication. 

This data (entropy) runs out frequently, and that causes processes reading from the blocking device (if any) to temporarily stop responding (lag). 

These processes cannot continue until the Linux kernel repopulates the entropy pool, which takes time. 

In addition, input events are pulled from the user interface (to refill the pool), which may also contribute to the problem. 

Seeder is a service for root users. It assists the kernel in "topping off" the entropy pool by re-seeding it with data from the non-blocking (high performance) random device. 

Optionally, it can also help alleviate MMC I/O contention by extending the I/O queue, allowing the I/O scheduler to make better decisions, and combine more writes. 

On some devices, applications load significantly faster (particularly large ones like Facebook, Chrome, and Youtube), and task switching becomes effortless. 

Fewer visual "hiccups" occur. You MUST be running a rooted device to use this application!
